About Startup India InitiativeStartup India is a flagship initiative of the Government of India, intended to build a strong ecosystem for nurturing innovation and startups in the country, that will drive sustainable economic growth and generate large-scale employment opportunities. The initiative aims to empower startups to grow through innovation and design. The initiative has not only brought a sharp focus on startups but has also catalyzed the Indian startup ecosystem and accelerated Indian entrepreneurs building innovative solutions for Indian and global needs. Since the launch of the initiative, several programs have been undertaken to contribute to the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of transforming India into a country of job creators instead of job seekers.About PrarambhPrarambh, as a noun, implies ‘an auspicious start’ and, as a verb, implies ‘to begin’. Aiming to bring India’s Entrepreneurial force onto the global map, The Department for Promotion of Industry, and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is hosting “Prarambh”, the Startup India International Summit on January 15- 16, 2021. The Summit marks the fifth anniversary of the Startup India Initiative launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on January 16, 2016. The summit is aimed to lay a foundation for multilateral cooperation and engagement with countries from around the globe to develop and hone these Startup ecosystems, collectivelyGenesis of ‘Prarambh’•The Honble Prime Minister launched the Startup India Action Plan on 16th January 2016 which has formed the basis of the growth of the Startup India movement in the country. In the Action Plan, Action Point 12 says “Organizing international events to showcase innovation and provide a collaborative platform to startups”.•Additionally, in the Plenary Session of the 4th BIMSTEC Summit held in Kathmandu, Nepal on 30th -31st August 2018 Hon’ble Prime Minister announced to host BIMSTEC Startup Conclave to increase connectivity among our entrepreneurs in BIMSTEC countries.•Holding the event on the 5th Anniversary of the launch of the Startup India Action Plan would signify the importance attached to this mission.About the SummitThe 2-day long virtual summit will bring together over 200 marquee speakers across 25 countries, to facilitate discussions on innovation, emerging technologies, innovation, policies, initiatives, and enable government and international organizations to share their views and set on fire the minds of young Indian entrepreneurs, driving them to solve the problems and challenges that matter, not just for India but also for the entire world.The main objectives of the Summit are given below:1.
